Angkor Wat in Cambodia
posted by CJ Spencer on Sunday, February 28, 2010
This has been possibly the most amazing week of my life. I've been to four countries, each one totally amazing. Cambodia I feel though is in a league of it's own. The people are beyond friendly considering their extremely sad recent history, and the sense of adventure as you walk around the temples is unbelievable. Here are some of the pictures I've taken so far, I'm sure a lot more will make it onto my Cambodia page in the very near future!

Phnom Penh, Cambodia
posted by CJ Spencer on Friday, February 26, 2010
Today I got see Phnom Penh. It was a very emotional day as we began by visiting the prisons that the Kymer Rouge used to torture the Cambodian people. We were warned it would be shocking but I had no idea about how senseless and evil the violence was. We then visited the killing fields where some of the 3 million dead were executed and buried. The fact I had to keep reminding myself of was that anybody over the age of 30 had survived through the ordeal and was trying to carry on their lives. As a result of Pol Pot's regime the majority of the population is only my age or younger.
After this we headed to the river see the museum and the royal palace. They had a lot of the heads of the buddha statues that were taken from Angkor Wat. That night we also went to see an English class for children before having a traditional dinner round our Cambodian tour guide's house. It was a great experience to see inside a house in Phnom Penh and eat cross legged on the floor!

Cambodian Life
posted by CJ Spencer on Wednesday, February 24, 2010
On our tour we've been privileged enough to see what everyday life is like for the Cambodian people. We saw countryside living around Siem Reap, life in a floating village over a seasonal lake and how it is to live in Phnom Penh after the genocide. I can't thank you enough for showing us your lives and being so generous Cambodia!

Aspara Dancers in Siem Reap
posted by CJ Spencer on Tuesday, February 23, 2010
Tonight we were treated to a special dinner in Siem Reap. Local dancers called Aspara dancers performed a traditional dance for us while we ate. This was a great experience, combined with live traditional music!

Busy in Bangkok, Thailand
posted by CJ Spencer on Saturday, February 20, 2010
Here I am in the liveliest place I've ever been, Bangkok in Thailand. I've never had so much spicy food, sweated so much or been asked to buy so many suits in my life! Here are some of the pictures from the day.

Surfing at Secret Harbour
posted by CJ Spencer on Thursday, January 28, 2010
Secret Harbour is neither a secret or a harbour, its a busy beach! But it does have great waves and a laid back vibe, we've been up here a couple of times now. We also took the boat out today around Mandurah and took 5 minutes out to play a round of mini-golf, I am on holiday after all!

Australia Day in Perth
posted by CJ Spencer on Wednesday, January 27, 2010
Happy Australia day everyone! How cool is this, a day in celebration of just being Australian. It's like Christmas and New Years combined over here, why we don't celebrate St. George's day in the middle of summer and declare it a national holiday I'll never know! England you have a lot to learn, best day ever!

Surfing down at Margaret River
posted by CJ Spencer on Sunday, January 17, 2010
Now I feel more like I'm in Australia! After seeing the John Butler Trio the night before we headed to the beach with our long boards and hangovers to let the ocean make idiots of us. Margaret River has the best breaks I'd ever seen, like the surf movies you see of Hawaii! The waves there were a bit out of our league though so we tackled the smaller ones... like men!

John Butler Trio at Margaret River
posted by CJ Spencer on Saturday, January 16, 2010
I know, I'd never heard of them before really either, but they're quite a big deal over here and they certainly put on a show! It took place at a vineyard in the chilled out surfing town of Margaret River, like a miniature Glastonbury with deckchairs, cheese and mosquitoes. A brilliant night out, might be seeing him again in March if I come back to Oz after Asia, we'll see!

Rottnest Island in Western Australia
posted by CJ Spencer on Wednesday, December 30, 2009
I arrived in Australia the other night after an exhausting couple of days. It was 42C and unbearable at first... but I soon got over that. After a few days I made the trip to Rottnest Island to see the beautiful white beaches, tiny quokkas and marine life. It was a cracking day, we even saw a sting ray. Although I did get so burnt it took a week to heal, got a belter of a tan now though! Here are some pictures and videos of the day.

Day in Singapore
posted by CJ Spencer on Monday, December 28, 2009
Today I spent a very exciting and humid day in Singapore while waiting for my transfer to Australia. It's a lovely place over there, very friendly and clean. I went on the Singapore Flyer, walked around the new Formula 1 circuit and had a coffee by the famous lion fountain in the business district. I was very jet lagged though so I had to trot off when I started to fall asleep. I will be heading back to Singapore in February for a while hopefully before starting a tour around Asia.

My Old Illustrations
posted by CJ Spencer on Sunday, November 01, 2009
I ended up going into the loft this weekend while back home and came across some old school work I hadn't seen for over 5 years. It was all my illustrative work from studying art & design at school and sixth form. I remember feeling really chuffed at school with what I had done, the one thing I ever really felt proud about. I see now obviously where I could improve my old work with everything I've learned since starting photography, but rather than leave them gathering dust in the loft I thought I'd put some of my favourites on here for people to see.
Click the images above to view more of my illustrative work!

First Google Page Rank
posted by CJ Spencer on Saturday, October 24, 2009
Today Adventure Photography got it's first Google page rank! While not being of any real significance it is a small pat on the back for a lot of hard work creating this site. The Page Rank is a way of determining a sites significance and can be increased by good optimisation and links. This is something I will continue to work on in the future. I'm also currently on page one of Google.co.uk for the keywords 'adventure photography' which I'm very excited about!
