I love cinematography as much as photography and have studied it heavily since university. I take inspiration from directors like Jack Johnson and Danny Boyle who make every scene picture perfect. I'm currently working on a movie with a traditional 16mm film camera about my newest adventure that should be completed in a few months.
The video above is a simple timelapse animation showing Stratford upon Avon at night in 1080/24p completed back in 2009 with a Canon 5D.
This project was submitted as an ISTD (International Society of Typographic Designers) brief in 2007. The brief was to create a typographic animation based on a passage from a movie. I chose the iconic scene from the start of Citizen Kane where as a child he plays with Rosebud while the adults discuss his future.
I wanted to show the breakthrough cinematography used in that scene with just text in showing a constant camera take to show the three levels of attention within the scene. I created the animation entirely within After Effects CS3 after experimenting with 3D modelling programs.
