I love cinematography as much photography but invested my time and money initially into just photography. I can however still dabble in motion pictures with time lapse animation.
To create the illusion of motion from still photography, you need to take 24 pictures to make just one second of footage. When sped up it looks like fluid motion in fast forward. It does however require a steady hand, a tripod and lot of patience.
The beauty of this form of animation is that even some of the oldest of digital cameras around have the ability to take an image large enough to be used to create a full HD 1080p sized movie. As a result I record all my timelapse animations in full HD as the quality is so clear.
